Pertanika Journal of Youth and Community Development (PJYCD)
is a bilingual, peer-reviewed journal published by the Institute for Social Science Studies (IPSAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The journal provides an academic platform dedicated to advancing scholarship in youth and community development within interdisciplinary social science perspectives.
The journal covers a broad range of areas with a primary focus on youth education and empowerment; social entrepreneurship and community innovation; leadership, volunteerism, and civic engagement; as well as social well-being and inclusive development. It also publishes research addressing public policy and community governance, evidence-based programmes, and strategic interventions that strengthen youth participation and societal resilience.
PJYCD emphasises research related to sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), and climate change adaptation strategies that affect youth and communities. The journal welcomes contributions exploring the role of digital technology and social AI in enhancing community development processes, policy innovation, and participatory governance.
The scope further includes applied and policy-oriented studies that inform evidence-based decision-making; interdisciplinary approaches to strengthening community capacity; and innovative frameworks that promote inclusive, resilient, and sustainable social development at local, national, and global levels. Pertanika Journal of Youth and Community Development (PJYCD) welcomes high-quality, peer-reviewed manuscripts that examine youth and community development from interdisciplinary social science perspectives. The journal publishes theoretical, empirical, methodological, and policy-oriented studies addressing contemporary challenges and transformative practices.

Pertanika Journal of Youth and Community Development (PJYCD) operates as a fully funded academic journal. The journal does not impose any article processing charges (APCs), submission fees, review fees, or publication fees. All costs associated with editorial management, peer review, and online publication are supported by the publisher.
Authors are not required to make any payment at any stage of the submission, review, or publication process.
